Marjolein de Jong

With a legal background and having worked for many years in corporate environments, I recently decided to follow a more creative path and pursue my long-held interest in photography by studying Photography at the Photo Academy Amsterdam.

Photography allows me to slow down and adopt a curious, investigative state of mind. In a world where we are constantly exposed to an endless stream of stimuli, where strong opinions are voiced and quick conclusions are drawn, I found myself searching for space - space to breathe, to reflect, to simply be. Through my images, I want to offer that same sense of space to the viewer: an opportunity to engage with something open-ended, something undefined. It requires a different mindset - or perhaps the absence of one altogether.

Artist statement

Unconsciously, we tend to reduce everything we perceive to something concrete and tangible, something we then expect to remain fixed. Yet in reality, such a definitive state doesn’t exist. Things are always in flux. That awareness informs how I photograph - in a spacious, unforced way, without imposed identity - allowing room for transformation.

I founded Studio Trois Pommes to share my work and to connect with others. If my work resonates with your project in any way, I’d love to hear from you. I’m always open to exploring new collaborations.
